Thank You Kirby Center

It was just announced the other day that the F.M Kirby Center in WIlkes-Barre, PA had its best year ever in terms of ticket sales. The Kirby Center also made Pollstar's 2018 Top 100 List coming in at #93 in the nation. These numbers are the Kirby Center's best in their 33 years of existence.

While this makes me so happy to see, I cannot say that I am surprised.

Over recent years, I have seen it myself, the Kirby Center is bringing in BIG artists! I talked a little about this in my Concert Review of the Swedish Metal Band, Ghost. I simply could not believe that the Kirby Center was able to bring in such a prestigious artist to a small market like Wilkes-Barre. With the new PPL Center going up in Allentown, the market in Northeast PA is becoming even more over looked now. It's hard not to notice because there isn't as many concerts and events at the arena anymore and don't even get me started on, The Pavilion at Montage.

The Kirby Center over the past few years has become very aggressive and are somehow bringing in these big artists to the area and people are so thankful for that. It is amazing being able to make a simple twenty minute drive to go see my favorite artists instead of having to travel two/three hours to Philadelphia, New York, Baltimore, or Washington D.C.

Some of the F.M Kirby Center's biggest shows this year included:

-Alice Cooper

-The Beach Boys

-Jerry Seinfeld

-T-Pain

-Quiet Riot

-Foghat

-Jay Leno

-Ghost

and many others!

Kansas was even supposed to perform at the Kirby back in November but due to a band member's illness, the show was canceled. They are scheduled to come back at the beginning of March.

I think that Drew Taylor and his staff deserve nothing but praise for this accomplishment. They are obviously a very hard-working and dedicated staff that will not stop until they bring big shows to Northeast Pennsylvania! Well done! Your efforts are not going unnoticed! Thank you for putting NEPA back on the map!
